How fast do YOU brake?
The car ahead brakes hard, or a pedestrian is on the road in the dark. Press when you see the danger and find out whether you stop in time.
How it works
We measure how fast you press after the danger becomes visible. Then the same model as the calculator with the chosen weather: dry or wet asphalt on summer tyres, or packed snow on studless winter tyres; your car or a VW Golf 8. The car ahead brakes as hard as you. In the dark, with low beams a pedestrian becomes visible at about 30 m in dark clothes, 45 m in light clothes and 140 m with a reflector (Estonian Transport Administration).
Why it is longer in traffic
In the test you are waiting for the lights. In traffic danger comes unexpectedly and drivers usually need about 1 second, more when tired or on the phone. Every second at 90 km/h is 25 metres at full speed.
